6. Alice Johnson, and Laurie Worden, Marysville Unit #178, set up at a craft bazaar on Saturday to sell hand made scarves. $100.00 of the proceeds were to go towards Mary's Project.A huge Thank You for all your hard work.

7. Tom Thorleifson has donated a fine quality Amish Blanket Chest estimated value is $600.00 with tickets available during Department, District and Unit, Post and Squadron meetings. $1 each.

9. Vince Scmitt has made and donated three beautiful quilts. There will be three drawings with each of the first two choosing their quilts.
There is a contest between Tom. Rose and Vince to see who can raise the most with their donation. Help them out!
10. A breakfast was hosted by 4th Dist Chairman, Karen at Applebees in Tacoma. She was able to raise over $1600.00 for the campaign.
11. Midwinter Executive Committee Meeting in Spokane had a great many things on sale and made nearly $1100.00 for Mary. the t-shirts were debuted. These were designed by Mary Davis herself. Want one? Contact Hanny Elston at jbogus240@peoplepc.com for ordering and details. Also sold were lanyards, keychains. bookmarks and the like. Thanks to Mike and Laura Bondurant, Wayne Elston and Charlie Prentice for manning the tables.
12. Laura Bondurant did a basket raffle and earned another $100.00. She is hosting a a "rest area" on 190 at the Sprague Rest Stop on Feb 28th. If you are out and about stop in and help us out. Laura also has a flat screen TV and a picnic basket she will be presenting soon. Good work Laura.
13. Jane Montanney has the Electronic Cookbook that will be raffled. Contact Janey at jmontaney@yahoo.com.
14. The recipe gathering is slow for our Department Cookbook. get those recipes to Jan Sperry as soon as possible.
15. Eva Wallace is already hard at work on Mary's homecoming in 2016. Keep an eye out for more information. This project is in very capable hands.
16. Each District Representative will soon have badge a minit badges for sale. $5.oo each. Our new logo designed by Mary Davis is the theme. Be sure you have yours.

Can We Count On You?

Have you heard the exciting news? After over 50 years, the Washington American Legion family has a candidate for the high position of National President of the American Legion Auxiliary. During the Auxiliary 2016-17 administration, our own PDP Mary Davis will bring honor to us all when she steps up to serve our great organization as its National President.

As we have come to realize, the challenges of making the dream of a National President from the Department of Washington a reality are many and varied. This endeavor will be costly and requires support from throughout our Department. We are writing to you today to invite you to join us and be a part of our “Washington Team ‘16”Campaign.

All Posts, Units and Squadrons are being invited to be a part of this historical event by supporting Mary’s candidacy. This is no small task, as we need to raise between $60,000.00 and $80,000.00 over the next couple of years. It is our hope that Districts, Units, Posts, Squadrons and other groups will host fund raising events to help us achieve that goal.

We will be sharing information about the varied events being held and provide ideas that may help you develop your own local fund raisers. Be sure and check frequently on the activities associated with this campaign at “MaryDavis” on https://www.facebook.com/ and on our blog at http://aladaviscampaign.blogspot.com/ .

Please provide information about your planned events with Campaign Chairman Carol Prentice and she will coordinate Candidate Mary’s attendance. If Mary is not able to attend, then members of the Executive Steering Committee may be able to join you.

The support of all members of the Department of Washington Legion Family is essential for “Washington Team ‘16” to be a success. We hope you will agree to be part of our team.
